Want to meet Principal Nicole Sheard and the school community? Come to the “Pass the Parmesan” Principal’s Dinner fundraiser at the Topanga Community House on Saturday, September 8, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. Dinner and a nice little silent auction will raise money for the school! See you there!
With LAUSD making so many cuts to the arts and humanities, it was a pleasure to walk through the Topanga Canyon Gallery doors to see the youthful creations from our own Topanga Charter Elementary School students. “Lovefest” was the title of the school’s gallery art show fundraiser. Each class used a different medium with which to express their visions of love. From collage to lost wax casting to an actual stone maze, each piece was a beautiful, individual expression of a child’s idea, as well as a group project collaboration within the classroom. Here are a few of the images. I can’t wait to see the next one.

The annual silent auction to benefit the Topanga Elementary School support program is this Saturday, May 15th, at the beautiful Top of Topanga clubhouse. This year, the theme of “Raven & Rose” invites you to a night of merriment and mischief.
Always a fun evening out, the medieval theme promises a night of knights, ladies, and perhaps a sorcerer or two. Exotic face painting and Venetian masks will add to the gothic mystique of the event. The auction items are always fabulous and feature many of our generous local businesses wares. You can bid on art, travel, services, and event tickets. This year, there will be a special Chocolate & Diamonds raffle — purchase a box of artisan chocolates by Valerie and you may open it to find a diamond ring!
We are lucky to have Wendie Malick returning to host this gala. You can even bid on a walk-on role on her new series “Hot in Cleveland”. She is always a pleasure and so witty! Music by DJ Michael Konopka and pianist Thanos Dikos will keep the gala flowing.
The Topanga Enrichment Programs (TEP) help to fund programs such as physical education and science, which have been severely cut back by the LAUSD. If you would like more details, check out the TEP website or call (310) 455-7870. Want to help? I’m sure they would be glad to have you. Parking Shuttles available by Canyon Car Service from Viewridge.
